    FG fishes out 5,000 fresh ghost workers

    Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has revealed that the federal government has uncovered fresh 5,000 ghost workers in its efforts to sanitize the federal public service.

    He said yesterday at the 80th Tabieorar festival of the Church of the Lord Prayer Fellowship worldwide held at Mount Tabieorar Ground, Ogere Remo along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

    Osinbajo represented by the chaplain of the Presidential Villa, Pastor Seyi Malomo said the present administration is tackling the challenges of ghost workers without fear.

    The Kogi State Auditor General, Alhaji Yusufu Okala, has said that the state lost approximately N213,034,857,280.44, to a category of persons he called “Ghost Workers/Unintended Beneficiaries.”

    According to reports, the Ministry of Finance on Sunday said the list of those suspected to be involved in the manipulation of government payroll and allegedly injected ‘ghost’ workers had been sent to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for investigation and prosecution.

    According to reports, the Nasarawa State Government has discovered over 1,600 ghost workers on its payroll following the recent biometric data capture in the state.
