    SON raids Wuse market, confiscates substandard goods

    According to reports, the Standard Organisations of Nigeria (SON) has raided and confiscated various substandard goods, including razor blades and shaving sticks at various locations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    Officials of the FCT branch office of SON headed by Dr. Bartholomew Ugwu said the market raid of substandard goods would send strong signal to its manufacturers and traders who are bent on sharp practices.

    Valuables, including foodstuff and drinks, worth several millions of naira were destroyed by fire at Saraki Market, lta-Ama in llorin West Local Government area of Kwara on Wednesday.

    Customs impound 25 vehicles with smuggled goods

    According to reports, the Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service said it impounded 25 vehicles smuggled into Nigeria with contraband goods through illegal routes.

    The controller of the command, Temitope Ogunkua, said a total of 342 bags of rice were loaded in 23 of the vehicles, with duty paid value of about N2.9m. Two other trucks were also loaded with hundreds of bags of rice.
