    Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel and Watford striker Odion Ighalo have been named in the 35-man Nigeria Olympic squad that will take part in final training in the United States next month.

    The Nigeria Football Federation released the list sent in by coach Samson Siasia ending speculation about the identity of the over-23 players in the team as allowed by Fifa.

    Defender Godfrey Oboabona and goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi are the other over-age players that will compete for three slots in the team.

    Super Eagles striker Ighalo loses dad

    Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has announced the death of his father, Paul Ighalo.

    The late Paul Ighalo died around 2 a.m Monday after he complained of general body weakness.

    The Watford striker told AfricanFootball.com that it was painful his father has passed on.

    β€œI lost my father early hours of today (Monday),” Ighalo told AfricanFootball.com

    β€œHe had complained of weakness before going to bed last night and they discovered by 2 am this morning that he is gone. It is a very painful loss.”
