    Man remanded for defrauding Afe Babalola, impersonating Kukah ( See Details)

    Thirty-five-year-old man, Abdulrahman Muazu, has been remanded at Ado-Ekiti Prisons for allegedly defrauding eminent lawyer Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) of N2.5 million.

    The man, simply identified as Muazu, earlier impersonated the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah.

    Posing as Kukah, he telephoned Babalola, requesting N2.5 million as part of funds for the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Northeast.

    It was gathered that the FCT Police Command said it had arrested a suspect, Jehu Kwasu, 25, for allegedly impersonating the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, His Lordship Matthew Kukah, to defraud members of the public.

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested three members of a syndicate for allegedly impersonating the Commission’s acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

    According to the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, the suspects were arrested in a sting operation by operatives of the Commission.

    A security man with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Awobola Babatunde, who allegedly opened a bank account in the name of the General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, was arraigned in Lagos on Monday.
