    South-East traditional rulers ask Buhari to consider IPOB

    South East Council of Traditional Rulers, an umbrella body for Igbo traditional rulers have advised President Muhammadu Buhari to listen to the grievances of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), with a bid to finding lasting solution.

    This is as the President told those contemplating the break up of the country to have a rethink.

    The monarchs assured the President that they would continue to engage and preach to IPOB and other agitators on the need to embrace dialogue.

    Appeals have gone out to members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other Igbos to accept the outcome of today’s  court ruling on the bail application of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu to avoid unnecessary killing of unarmed civilians by security agents.

    Barely 24 hours after global rights watch, Amnesty International indicted Nigerian security forces in the killing no fewer than 150 pro-Biafra protesters in South-East Nigeria, the Movement for Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have disclosed they lost more than 2,000 members to the security agents.

    IPOB faults Amnesty’s report, says over 2,000 members killed

    It was gathered that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has welcomed the recent report published by Amnesty International, AI, detailing the alleged killing of 150 pro-Biafra activists by Nigerian soldiers, but pointed out that the figure was not a true reflection of number of its members killed from August 2015 till date, which is the period the report covered.
