    Eight die in Hadejia-Kano road accident in Jigawa

    No fewer than eight persons died in an accident involving a car and a jeep on Hadejia-Kano road in Kaugama Local Government Area of Jigawa.

    Mr Adamu Abdullahi, the spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state, said the accident occurred on Sunday evening.

    “Our men were returning from Hadejia when the accidents happened and they assisted in rescuing survivors and taking those who died on the spot to a nearby hospital,’’ Abdullahi said.

    No less than 18 people have been confirmed died and a total of 6,637 houses have been washed away by flood in about 19 local government areas in Jigawa state.

    This was disclosed by the executive secretary State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Yusif Sani while speaking to news men in his office said that the incidents occurred during the current rainy season.

    A major milestone in the power sector has been recorded as Nova Scotia Power Development Limited (NSPDL) has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET) for the development of one of the first solar photovoltaic plants in Nigeria, to be located in Dutse, Jigawa State capital.
