There was jubilation in some parts of Onitsha and Okpoko towns in Anambra State following the release of 11 of the 14 members of the Biafra Independence Movement (BIM) in police custody.
Those released by police included Lady Pauline Muoghalu, Nze Duru Alisi and nine others, who were among the 34 members of the group arrested by the Joint Task Force (JTF) last month.

Kogi State Police Command has banned public jubilation and/or demonstration after the Supreme Court delivers its judgment on the state governorship election petition appeals.
The Commissioner of Police, Malam Abdullahi Chafe, announced the ban at a news conference in Lokoja on Friday.
He said the judgment is slated for delivery on Tuesday next week.
Chafe said that intelligence reports reaching the command revealed that some miscreants were planning to foment trouble if the Supreme Court judgment should go contrary to their expectations.

The IPOB members in Onitsha went into frenzy the moment news of their release filtered into town. They converged on the old market road, Onitsha, discussing, drinking and celebrating, while expressing their hope that Nnamdi Kanu, their leader will soon be released by the Federal Government.
Workers and students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Friday jubilated following the dissolution of the university’s governing council by the Federal Government.
The dissolution of the governing council headed Prof. Ndoma Egba was said to have been announced on the Nigerian Television Authority late night Thursday.
