According to reports, the Ekiti State Government faulted the Senate over its plan to probe into the expenditure of the bailout granted the state by the Federal Government.
The government specifically stated that the upper chamber of the National Assembly lacked the powers to do so in a letter sent to the Chairman, Senate Committee on State and Local Government Administration, Senator Gumel Abdullahi, by the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday declared that Nigeria needed strong political parties both in government and opposition for the country’s democracy to survive.
Obasanjo said, as at today, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot claim to be strong in government and opposition respectively.
