    Task force storm Ekiti markets, force traders to reduce food prices

    Drama ensued yesterday, in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, when a team of stern-looking task force led by the Iyaloja, Mrs. Omowaye Oso,  raided some markets to force down ‘high’ prices of foodstuffs.

    Oso said she decided to deal with some sellers she described as ‘shylocks,’ for imposing exorbitant prices on buyers on the flimsy excuse of fluctuation in the dollar exchange rate.

    Ebonyi governor bans sale of foreign rice in markets and shops across the state

    Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has ordered the confiscation of foreign Rice in different markets, shops and other selling points of the products across the state.

    Governor Umahi had recently made the pronounced banning the sell of foreign rice in the State, claiming health dangers associated with Foreign rice as basis for his decision.

    Ebonyi bans sale of foreign rice in markets

    According to reports, the Ebonyi Government is to enforce its ban on the sale of foreign rice in markets and other outlets in the state.

    Governor David Umahi made the disclosure when participants of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Senior Course 39, Jaji, visited him in Abakaliki on Monday.

    The governor said the order would soon be enforced to ensure that the residents patronised home-grown Ebonyi Rice.

    As part of the efforts to regulate the drug distribution system in the country, Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), Elijah Mohammed, has disclosed that come 2017, all open drug markets would be closed down.
