Data Tariff Hike: Senate orders NCC, Communications minister, telecoms service providers to appear before it
Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, has been summoned to come and explain the reasons for planned mobile telecommunication data tariffs increment, just as it asked service providers to suspend the plan.
Also summoned to appear before senate are the Nigeria Communications Commission and telecommunication service providers to appear before its Committee on Communications.

Dr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the Minister of State for Petroleum, has advised the newly-inaugurated council on hydrocarbons to speedily formulate policies that will address challenges in the oil and gas sector.

A former Minister of National Planning, Rasheed Gbadamosi, is dead.
Mr. Gbadamosi, 73, died on Wednesday evening in his Ikorodu, Lagos residence, according to news monitored on the Nigeria Television Authority.
The cause of his death was not disclosed.
Mr. Gbadamosi, a businessman, had in April suffered stroke and was flown abroad for medical attention.
The deceased, a playwright and economist, served as the Commissioner for Establishment and Economic Development in Lagos State.

Nenadi Usman, a former minister of finance, on Monday informed a Federal High Court, Lagos of her application seeking severance and transfer of a criminal charge pending before the court.
