    FG commence screening of graduates for N5,000 monthly allowance

    It was gathered that the Federal Government is set to commence the screening of unemployed graduates across the country as a demonstration of its commitment to effect the payment of N5000 monthly allowances.

    This was disclosed by Senator Ali Wakili representing Bauchi South while addressing party stalwarts saying the gesture is part of fulfilling the ruling All Progressives Congress campaign promise to end poverty for improved economic development.

    Ekiti pays N5,000 to 10,000 beneficiaries of social welfare

    Despite the economic recession in the country, the Ekiti State Government on Wednesday started the payment of N5,000 each to beneficiaries of its social welfare scheme.

    The beneficiaries, drawn from various sections of the society, are 10,000 in number.

    In a broadcast by the state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, in Ado-Ekiti, he said the money was being paid directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries.

    18-year-old gets six months imprisonment for stealing N5,000

    A Kano Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced an 18-year-old man, Gaddafi Abdullahi, to six months imprisonment without an option of fine, for stealing N5,000.

    Senior Magistrate Aminu Fagge also sentenced Abdullahi to three months imprisonment, but with an option of N10,000 fine for trespassing into a house.

    Abdullahi, a resident of Kabuga Quarters, Kano, had pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of house trespass and theft.
