It was gathered that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Friday said it would investigate allegations that states used agents in the collection of hajj fares from prospective pilgrims.
The Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed, said this at the Post Arafat meeting in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
He said the commission had received disturbing reports of many pilgrims being duped by unscrupulous people.

Eighteen Nigerians died in Saudi Arabia during the just concluded 2016 Hajj attended by Muslims, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says.
The victims were from Kwara, Kogi, Bauchi, Taraba, Niger, Kaduna, FCT. There were foreign-based Nigerian pilgrims as well.
The head of NAHCON’s medical team, Ibrahim Kana, said two pilgrims, including a 40-year-old woman, died in Madinah.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says transportation of pilgrims from Mecca to Nigeria will begin on Sept. 17.
NAHCON Commissioner of Operations, Alhaji Abdullahi Saleh, announced this during a pre-Arafat meeting with stakeholders in Mecca.
He said the exercise would start begin with transporting of pilgrims from Kwara and Kogi.
“FlyNas Airline is ready to begin the operation of returning the pilgrims back home.
“We have got schedule of FlyNas as at Saturday while Med-view and MaxAir are to follow suit soon.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says it has so far transported 61, 237 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for this year’s pilgrimage.
The commission’s Media Officer, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday that the pilgrims were transported in 149 flights.
