    Nasarawa State: Gunmen ambushed and killed four mining workers, including a Chinese

    Gunmen on Monday ambushed and killed four workers of a mining company, including a Chinese, at Alongani village in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

     

     

    The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Kennedy Idirisu, confirmed the killing to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia on Tuesday.

    Idirisu said the victims were returning from their mining site in a company truck at about 4pm when the assailants shot them from different directions.

    Salary reduction: Labour suspends strike in Nasarawa, warns against workers’ victimization

    Labour leaders in Nasarawa State have suspended their two months old industrial action over the state government’s decision to review their salaries downward.

    The state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr Abdullahi Adeka, and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Mr Danladi Sabo-Namo, announced the suspension in a statement on Friday.

    The decision to suspend the strike followed a meeting between the Minister of Labour and Employment, the Nasarawa State Government, and the unions on Aug. 30, 2016.
