According to reports, the Niger State government says it will stop paying the examination fees of students in public schools owing to the sustained mass failure recorded in both WAEC and NECO examinations.

According to reports, the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) have refused to release the 2016 SSCE results of candidates in public secondary schools in Niger state due to the non-payment of examination fees by the state government.
It was gathered that the Niger state government is owing both examination bodies to the tune of N700 million.

According to reports, the Kano State Government has reached agreement with the Governing Boards of WAEC and NECO to release the withheld results of students of public schools in the state, this week.
A statement by the Deputy Director, Public Relations Department of the state Ministry of Education, Hajiya Hadiza Habib, appealed to both parents and students to remain calm and law abiding.

According to reports, the National Examination Council (NECO) on Friday released the 2016 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results with 88.51 per cent of the candidates obtaining five credits pass and above in English Language and Mathematics.
Announcing the release of the results at the body’s headquarter in Minna, the NECO Registrar, Prof. Charles Uwakwe, said there is a one per cent increase in the general performance of candidates this year compared with 2015.

The Speaker, Jigawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Idris Garba, has donated N1 million to 105 candidates to purchase scratch cards to register for the 2016 November/December NECO examination.
