    It was gathered that the University of Benin has received the approval of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission for an embedded electricity generation licence to operate a 7.5 megawatts independent power project within the university.

    The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists on its forthcoming 42nd convocation and founders’ day ceremonies scheduled to hold from November 23 to November 26, 2016.

    The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission says over four million electricity consumers are yet to get prepaid meters in the country.

    Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Akintunde Ibitayo Akinwande as the executive chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), reports have said.
