Efforts to eradicate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Osun State received a boost on Tuesday as 14 communities from four local government areas in the state declared their intentions to stop the practice of female circumcision in their domains.

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday said they arrested 11 suspects and destroyed 2, 317 bags of cannabis weighing 30,992kgs.
The agency’s spokesperson, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, stated this in a statement on Friday in Lagos.
He also said that some 67 bags were also transferred to Osun State Command of the agency as exhibits for further investigation.

Hundreds of Osun State indigenes on Saturday defied the morning downpour to enjoy the free train ride provided by Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
The train took off from Lagos for Osogbo.

President Muhammadu Buhari will tomorrow (Thursday) pay a one-day working visit to Osun State, during which he will commission the newly built 3,000 students capacity in Osogbo Government High School, Osogbo, the state capital.
