    Oyo Assembly moves to take over ownership of LAUTECH

    According to reports, the Oyo State House of Assembly has summoned the state Ministry of Justice and its Education counterpart to appear on September 27 over the ownership status of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

    This followed a motion by Olawunmi Oladeji (Ogbomoso North/LP) and co-sponsored by nine other lawmakers at the plenary session on Thursday.

    The motion was entitled: “Reviewing the Joint Ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology: A Step toward Sole Ownership by Oyo State Government.”

    Oyo Assembly passes bill for creation of 35 new LCDAs amid doubts of viability

    According to reports, the Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the Local Government Amendment Bill 2016 for the creation of 35 local council development areas.

    The passage of the bill is sequel to the adoption of the report of the Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours.

    The House unanimously approved the bill at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Michael Adeyemo.

    Oyo Assembly swears in Labour Party’s Lukman Balogun

    The newly elected member representing Oorelope constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr Balogun Lukman, was on Tuesday sworn in.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the house suspended its recess to also commence the process of approving the creation of 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

    Balogun had emerged following the Aug. 20 by-election to fill the vacant seat of the late Mr Gideon Aremu who was killed by hoodlums in Ibadan.
