    Oyo Workers suspends seven months indefinite strike

    The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has ordered the suspension of seven weeks indefinite strike against the non payment of workers salary and allowances in the state.

    It will be recalled that the state government based on the agreement with the national leaders of the union, set up a 14 man committee two weeks ago from both the government and labour sides to deliberate on how to resolve the industrial impasse.

    Oyo workers hold rally over unpaid salaries, education policy

    Workers in the Oyo State Public Service yesterday in Ibadan held a rally to protest against their unpaid six months salaries and government’s controversial proposal to handover the management of some schools to private bodies.

    The rally, which was coordinated by the national body of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), took off from the Oyo State Secretariat of the NLC at Agodi-Gate at about 10.30 am.

    Oyo workers begin indefinite strike

    The National Headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress in conjunction with its Oyo State Chapter on Monday ordered workers in the state to begin an indefinite strike on Tuesday.

    The National Vice-Chairman of the NLC, Solomon Adelegan, gave the directive after a congress held at the Labour Secretariat in Ibadan.

    Adelegan said the strike action would continue until labour’s demands were met.

    Among demands listed were the withdrawal of all charges levelled against seven NLC leaders by the police.
