President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday assured Nigerians that the present administration’s reforms will ensure that those who spent their productive years serving the nation will not experience difficulties in getting their pensions.
According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President spoke during a meeting he had with the Executive Secretary, Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, Sharon Ikeazor, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Buhari directed a speedy completion of the ongoing nationwide verification of pensioners.
Pensioners in Ondo state have urged the federal and state governors to priortise the welfare of the senior citizens to relieve them of agony being faced after serving the country meritoriously in various capacities.
They urged the relevant bodies to allow them live decent life before their death,especially during the current economic recession.

According to reports, the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate on Wednesday said it would release a total sum of N1.2bn between now and December 15 to offset arrears of pensioners of the Nigeria Police Force.

Tragedy was averted weekend as three unidentified aged pensioners slumped during the verification exercise organised by the Lagos State Local Government Pension Board, for pensioners.
