    Taraba’s former Governor Nyame pleads no case submission in alleged N1.64bn fraud

    According to reports, the EFCC on Tuesday closed its case against former Taraba governor Rev. Jolly Nyame, who is standing trial before an FCT High Court on charges of N1.6bn fraud.

    The EFCC’s counsel, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), told the court that the prosecution had decided this morning to close the case against the former governor.

    In response, the lead defence counsel, Mr. Omosanya Popoola, said that he would file a “No case submission.”

    Kalu pleads not guilty to money laundering charges

    According to reports, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday charged former Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia with money laundering before a Federal High Court in Lagos.

    Kalu is charged alongside his company, Slok Nigeria Ltd., and his former Commissioner for Finance, Jones Ude, on 34 counts bordering on money laundering.

    The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    Man, 43, pleads guilty to sexually abusing 2-year-old daughter

    An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday remanded, at the Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa, one Idris Abu, who confessed to sexually abusing his two-year-old daughter.

    The Magistrate, Mr T. A. Elias remanded Abu, 43, after he pleaded guilty.

    Elias adjourned the case till Oct. 19 for presentation of the facts of the case and sentencing.

    Abu, a resident of Agege, Lagos, was arraigned over indecent treatment of a child.
