    Suspects caught with over 500 PVC cards, driver took off in Oyo

     

    Two weeks to the March 28 elections, some suspects have been caught with over 500 Permanent Voter Cards at Orita Sekoni area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

    The suspects were said to have been arrested in connection with the incident while the driver of the car ran away.

    The police reportedly fired shots into the air to stop the clash that greeted the incident.

    Eye witnesses said irate youths could have lynched the suspects if the police had not responded promptly.

    Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has extended the distribution of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), hitherto scheduled to end today, by two weeks.

    In a statement issued today, INEC said the exercise will continue across the country until 22 March, six days to the presidential election.

    INEC, the Independent National Electoral Commission, yesterday, announced it had registered 68.8 million voters in the country for this month’s general elections.
