    SSANU urges Buhari to reinstate sacked FUNAAB lecturers

    Following the sack of 23 lecturers of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, (FUNAAB), the national leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, to reverse the sack of the university teachers.

    It will be recalled that the sacked staff were members of the association whose appointments were terminated last week by the university vice-chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole, and the Governing Council.

    It was gathered that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has vowed to reinstate the 60 lecturers of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, whose appointment were terminated by the management of the institution in 2012.

    Akeredolu said this on Saturday when his campaign train stormed Akungba Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.

    NANS insists reinstatement of 13 sacked VCs, gives minister 14-day ultimatum

    The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given the education minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu, a 14-day ultimatum to recall the 13 Vice Chancellors who were wrongfully sacked by the federal government in February.

    National president of NANS, Comrade Tijani Usman Shehu, in a letter to the minister dated April 27, 2016, explained that the ultimatum became necessary following the failure of the minister to take advantage of the window of opportunities provided by Nigerian students to resolve the issue amicably.
