    It was gathered that the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has approved the release of Dr. Reuben Abati, a former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan from custody.

    Reuben Abati agrees to refund N5 million to EFCC

    A former presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, has told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that he only has N5 million to reimburse the government.

    Mr. Abati was detained when he reported at the EFCC headquarters a week ago.

    During the interrogation, he reportedly admitted receiving N50 million from a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

    The government said the money was part of $2.1 billion earmarked for the purchase of arms for the fight against Boko Haram.

    It was gathered that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted bail to the former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and serial columnist, Dr. Reuben Abati.

    Abati was arrested on Monday on allegations that he received money from former NSA, Sambo Dasuki, who is also being tried for misappropriating the funds amongst several other charges.

    Dr Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on media and publicity was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly collecting about N60 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA under the leadership of former NSA, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, (retired).
