    Abia Senator awards scholarships to 240 individuals

    Senator representing Abia Central District, Theodore Orji, has expressed worry over the decreasing yearly budgetary allocations to Nigeria’s education sector as he described the sector as the most important.

    Orji said budgetary allocation to the sector dropped by N123, from N492 billion to N369 billion in 2016, adding that these allocations are less than the UNESCO recommendation of 26 per cent of education budget.

    Governor Ugwuanyi’s wife awards scholarships to 102 indigent students

    It was gathered that the Wife of Enugu State Governor, Mrs Monica Ugwuanyi, has awarded scholarships to 102 indigent students drawn from the 17 council areas of the state.

    Ugwuanyi announced the award on Monday in Enugu during the monthly Women Prayer Network held in Enugu.

    No fewer than 50 children orphaned by the Boko Haram insurgence have been ‎awarded scholarships in commemoration of the 50th birthday of Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State.
