The defection of Senator Yele Omogunwa (Ondo South), who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), caused uproar in the Senate on Wednesday morning.
Senate President Bukola Saraki, who announced the defection at plenary through a notification letter, said Omogunwa’s decision was in reflection of the recent developments in Ondo State.
With the lawmaker’s change of party, all the three Senators from Ondo are now members of the APC.

Four senators have declared support for a special status for Lagos State.
The senators, Sani Yerima (Zamfara), Sam Anyanwu (Imo), Binta Mary Garba (Adamawa), and Adeola Olamilekan (Lagos) gave their support during a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday.
