It was gathered that the House of Representatives has passed for a second reading a Bill seeking to compel corporate bodies to pay the sum N5 million penalty against the sale of illegally registered SIM cards in the country.
According to the Bill which was jointly sponsored by Rep. Nicholas Ossai (PDP-Delta) and Rep. Peter Akpatason (APC-Edo) also proposed N500, 000 fine or an option of six months imprisonment against individuals liable of using the illegally registered and pre-registered SIM cards.
According to reports, the Enforcement Unit of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has arrested six suspects for selling registered Sim Cards in Kano metropolis.
The NCC Head of Enforcement Unit, Mr Salisu Abdu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after arresting the suspects on Monday in Kano.
He said the suspects were apprehended during a raid at the Farm Centre, GSM Market and Yankura near Sabon Gari Market after conducting surveillance on the area.

It was gathered that the Nigerian Communications Commissions (NCC) has warned against the use of unregistered sim cards by Nigerians saying the organisation was now poised to enforce the law making the practice illegal.
The warning followed three days of raids by operatives of the enforcement units of the Commission in Minna Zungeru and Kontagora towns of Niger State.
