    Customs seizes fuel tanker loaded with smuggled bag of rice

    According to reports, the Ogun State Area Command, Nigeria Customs Service, has intercepted a petroleum tanker, and no fewer than 25 other vehicles, loaded with smuggled bags of rice in some parts of the state, in the last two weeks.

    Officials of the Nigeria Customs on Sunday raided Itekun waterside at Ishasi, a suburb near Iba Local Government Area of Lagos ,where they seized 1600 bags of rice brought into the country illegally by smugglers.

    Customs seizes N1.3 bn smuggled rice, others, arrests 23

    A total of N1.3 billion worth of smuggled items have been seized by a special team set up by Hamid Ali, Comptroller General [CGC], Nigeria Customs Service, two months ago, an official said on Friday.

    No fewer than 37 vehicles loaded with illegally imported bags of rice have been impounded by men of the Ogun State command of Nigeria Customs Service, while three suspects were also arrested in connection with the crime.
