It was gathered that the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has impounded six container loads of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) products worth about N100 million, suspected to be substandard in nature.
The consignment which was impounded following a tip-off from the men of the Customs included gas cookers, gas cylinders of 12.5 kgs and 6kgs, as well as top burners cylinder and sittings, with the brand name “Amaze”.
According to the agency, the consignments are suspected to have been imported from China.
According to reports, the Standard Organisations of Nigeria (SON) has raided and confiscated various substandard goods, including razor blades and shaving sticks at various locations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Officials of the FCT branch office of SON headed by Dr. Bartholomew Ugwu said the market raid of substandard goods would send strong signal to its manufacturers and traders who are bent on sharp practices.
