Premier League: Tottenham collapse was funniest moment, says Mahrez

Riyad Mahrez believes that Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in May was the “funniest moment” of last season.

Tottenham headed into the clash with their London rivals knowing that only a win would keep alive their slim hopes of beating Leicester to the Premier League title.

They took a two-goal lead against their bitter enemies, but Chelsea fought back to seal a 2-2 draw that crowned Leicester champions.

Mahrez, who watched the game at Jamie Vardy’s home along with other […]

Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham were the better side in the 2-1 defeat to league leaders Chelsea.

Tottenham’s 26-year wait for victory at Stamford Bridge was extended after Pedro and Victor Moses provided the comeback victory after Christian Eriksen gave the visitors an early lead.

It was also Tottenham’s first league defeat of the season, but Pochettino is clearly not too downhearted about his side’s performance at Stamford Bridge.

“If we analyse the game we were better,” Pochettino told Sky Sports.

The Spaniard failed to get on the scoresheet as the Blues took their winning streak in the league to seven matches but he provided an assist for Victor Moses’ winner.

The 28-year-old’s scored ten goals already this season and Chelsea’s win took Antonio Conte’s side back to the top of the table after Liverpool’s win against Sunderland earlier in the day.

After another good performance and a hard-fought […]

Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham: Blues stage comeback to end Spurs’ unbeaten run

Chelsea maintained their winning run and their place at the top of the Premier League after coming from behind to beat Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham struck early on to ensure Chelsea’s run of consecutive clean sheets came to an end, but couldn’t hang on against Antonio Conte’s devastatingly in-form side.

It was a nervy start from the Blues, however, and it took just 11 minutes for Spurs to end their hosts impressive run of six consecutive clean sheets in the league.

The stat that proves Fabregas must start against Tottenham

The Chelsea midfielder has a hugely impressive record against Mauricio Pochettino’s side and it could be the ideal time to bring the Spaniard back into the first-team picture.

Cesc Fabregas has been playing the waiting game at Chelsea, pretty much since the first day Antonio Conte walked through the door.

The Spaniard, so key to the club’s title success in 2014-15 and having been an ever-present for both Barcelona and Arsenal in years gone by, has become a forgotten man at Stamford […]

Redknapp reveals why Wenger turned down Modric

Harry Redknapp says Arsene Wenger turned down the chance to sign Luka Modric because he was “not physically imposing enough”.

Modric joined Spurs in summer 2008 for £16.5million, and became a fan favourite in his four years at the club.

Juande Ramos was the manager who brought him to White Hart Lane, but Redknapp oversaw most of his spell in north London after becoming boss in October 2008.

Modric made 159 appearances for Tottenham and impressed sufficiently to secure a move to Real […]
