According to reports, the controversial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, Jimoh Ibrahim, has dismissed the reports of violence in the state, saying supporters of Olusegun Mimiko, the incumbent governor, have just been “burning tyres”.
Residents of the state woke up on Friday to see bonfires in different parts, as youth in their huge numbers also trooped to the streets to protest the exclusion of Eyitayo Jegede, candidate of the Ahmed Makarfi faction, from the governorship race.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has advised motorists to change their tyres after use for 80,000 kilometres and whether it has expired or not.
The FRSC Unit Commander in Suleja, Niger, Assistant Corps Commander Olayinka Akande, gave the advice on Friday during “Operation Know Your Tyre” campaign in Suleja.
He said the corps had identified tyre- related challenges as major factor in traffic accidents, adding that knowledge would reduce carnage on the roads.

According to reports, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has praised Nigerians for agreeing to shun the use of expired tyres.
The Chief Executive Officer and Corps Marshal of FRSC, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra on Monday.
