    NCC to sanction 13 operators over unsolicited telemarketing

    It was gathered that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Monday said it would sanction 13 telecommunications operators for failing to comply with the ‘2442 Do Not Disturb (DND)’ directive on unsolicited telemarketing.

    According to a statement signed by the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr Tony Ojobo, the directive was issued on April 20, 2016.

    Col. Umar to sue MTN over fraudulent deductions, unsolicited SMS

    Former military Governor of Kaduna State, Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (retd), has decided to sue MTN over unsolicited messages and fraudulent deductions by the telecoms giant.

    Speaking on Saturday, Umar said he has briefed his lawyers to file the suit against MTN after complaining over unsolicited messages and deductions to no avail.

    He said despite assurances that it will not happen again, he has started receiving unsolicited messages accompanied by deductions of money from his telephone line.

    Court fines Airtel N5m for unsolicited messages

    Justice Jude Okeke of an FCT high court Maitama on Wednesday slammed a fine of N5m Airtel Nig. Ltd for violation of customer’s right to privacy.

    The plaintiff, Mr. Emmanuel Anene, on December 21 filed a suit against Airtel for continues disturbances through unsolicited messages to his line.
