According to reports, the convictions of jailed former Delta State governor, James Ibori, remain valid despite evidence that a British police officer took bribes during the investigation of his case, Reuters quotes Britain’s state prosecution agency as saying on Thursday.
Ibori, who as governor of Delta State from 1999 to 2007, was one of Nigeria’s most powerful men, and is currently serving a 13-year sentence in a British prison after pleading guilty in 2012 to 10-count charge of fraud and money-laundering.
The Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA) has announced a new validity period of five years for the National Drivers’ Licence, noting however that the choice is optional.
The General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Lateef Lawal, who disclosed this today, said the decision was taken at the 134th meeting of the Federal Road Safety Commission’s Joint Tax Board in order to ease off the renewal/reissue process of the driver’s licence.
