Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, has said the confusion regarding the real amount individual states are owing the West African Examination Council, WAEC, was responsible for the delay in paying the outstanding fees.
WAEC had threatened to withhold the results of candidates in 19 states who wrote the May/June 2015 WASSCE following outstanding fees by the state governments.

Results of students in 19 states of the federation who wrote the last May/June 2015 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations, SSSCE, are to be withheld by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, because of the failure of their governors to pay their registration fees.
Although, WAEC did not disclose the names of the affected states, it put the debt owed by them at N4billion.
The figure was revealed yesterday by the Head of National Office, HNO, Mr. Charles Eguridu, in Yaba, Lagos.
