The 19-year-old, who scored City’s decisive second in their 2-1 Manchester derby victory, finished a sweeping move at the Etihad after 25 minutes following Kevin De Bruyne’s opener.

The hosts doubled their lead early in the second half with strikes from in-form Raheem Sterling and summer signing Iker Gundogan as Pep Guardiola’s side attempted to cement their place at the top of the Premier League.

Since bursting onto the scene last season Iheanacho has impressed with his pace, willing running and unerring coolness in front of goal – an attribute which is supported by an astonishing statistic.

His strike against Hull was the clinical Nigerian’s 10th Premier League goal for the citizens – from just 14 shots on target.

Compare that with Olivier Giroud, who in the last two seasons has converted 16 of 42 on-target efforts, and Christian Eriksen, who has scored a paltry six out of 41.
