Three Chelsea players are among the nominees for October’s Player of the Month award.
Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and N’golo Kante are part of the seven-man shortlist, which also includes Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, Stoke City’s Joe Allen, Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho and Ilkay Gundogan of Manchester City.
The Chelsea trio’s inclusion in this month’s shortlist is a reflection of what has been a brilliant month for the club in the league in which they have won all four games including their eye-catching 4-0 win over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Much of Chelsea’s recent successes have been attributed to a tactical switch made by Antonio Conte which has seen his side change their now customary formation to 3-4-3.
It has proven to be effective, with Chelsea scoring 11 times in October without conceding a single goal.
Both Costa and Hazard scored three times last month, with the latter showing glimpses of the form that saw him named Player of the Year in the 2014/15 season with an additional assist, seven chances created and 17 completed dribbles.

Meanwhile N’Golo Kante has shown his quality by not only producing defensively sound performances, but also contributing to Chelsea’s attack with six chances created.
With regards to the other nominees, Coutinho impressed again as part of Liverpool’s free-flowing side, scoring once, creating 13 chances and completing 14 dribbles, while Manchester City new-boy Gundogan has fitted in seamlessly into the Manchester City squad following his return from injury, scoring twice and completing 251 passes last month.
Meanwhile, Allen, who has been galvanised in his new number 10 role at Stoke City, weighed in with three goals and two assists in what was a great month for the Welshman.
Similarly, Burnley captain Heaton impressed in-between the sticks, especially in last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United, making an outstanding 11 saves.
